We are in the process of building some beautiful poplar wood ashikos and offering them for sale.
This is the first of them.
Poplar is a lovely hardwood that is not so dense as to be heavy. This means the shell is strong and durable and projects the sound beautifully, yet is light and portable. A great combination!
Built with hand selected goat skin, high grade 5.5mm rope and finished off with a rubber bottom to protect the shell and indoor floors, this 13" world class hand drum is tuned and ready to play.

Glass Drums For Sale
We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with West Coast Glass Studios. We have teamed up with WCGS to create beautiful and unique drums made of hand blown glass. That's right - glass drums!

Glass Talking Drums
Unlike traditional African talking drums, these drums have a single 6" head on one side and are open ended on the other. Also unlike their traditional versions, these drums can use synthetic skins as well as natural skins.
Exactly as with their African versions, the pitch on these drums can be manipulated high to low or low to high by squeezing and releasing the lacing. It's that easy!
Glass Djembes
Yes, these are djembes. They have the range, high to low, you would expect as well as great resonance and a surprisingly booming bass for a 6" drum.

This set has been lovingly restored by DrumDrTom with new straps, tuning pegs and drum heads. The shells are used but in perfect condition. The dayan is 5 1/2" and the bayan 9 1/4". We tried several times to tune it to C, but the drum always reverted to it's natural state - B.
And boy does it sing in B! Clear, stable and resonant!
